Law enforcement officers are our country's front line in the fight against crime. They are required to integrate counter-terrorism issues into their daily duties, find ways to increase their technological abilities to make the time they spend more effective, and work with communities to prevent crime and garner community support for their efforts. Unfortunately, they must do all of this and more in an environment in which their resources are limited and their lives are at stake.
At BJA, we respect the choice that law enforcement officers made to dedicate themselves to serving their communities, and we believe that we must do everything possible to provide them with the support, resources, and training they need to meet the needs of their communities.
- BJA will sponsor a national conference so BJA-funded multijurisdictional task forces across the country can learn how to augment their current duties to include counter-terrorism.
- BJA will continue to work with national law enforcement associations to provide research, training, and technical assistance programs.
- We will continue to assist law enforcement officers by helping them get the safety equipment they need through BJA's Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program.
- BJA will continue to encourage the use of federal funds to develop cutting-edge training programs for law enforcement officers.
- We will continue to fund programs that enhance the investigative capabilities of forensic science laboratories.
