Overview:
The program's goal is to support the development of Human Trafficking Task Forces designed to empower local law enforcement to better identify and interdict trafficking in its various forms, whether it is forced prostitution, indentured servitude, peonage, or other forms of forced labor. Program funds will provide support for state and local law enforcement to work collaboratively with victim and social services organizations and federal agencies in the identification of human trafficking victims who are in the United States and to provide enhanced enforcement efforts in communities that currently have or will provide comprehensive services to victims of trafficking with the close support and, if necessary, guidance of the U.S. Attorney. Funding for this effort should supplement existing efforts; it should leverage trafficking victim services that are being provided by victim services providers, refugee resettlement agencies, and other social service organizations, particularly those receiving funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and/or the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC).
