New York State Unified Court System - Washington County
New York, NY

AWARD AMOUNT:

$338,541*

PURPOSE: The Washington County Felony Drug Treatment Court will use grant funds to implement an adult drug court in a rural jurisdiction. The court will serve 85 client felony nonviolent offenders and probation violators annually over a 3-year period. The program will last approximately 12 to 24 months, and it will operate based on a post-adjudication model. The program will provide intensive judicial supervision, sanctions and incentives, mandatory drug testing, and aftercare services through the use of a 4-phase structure. The program's goals are to reduce alcohol and drug use among addicted offenders, reduce crime, promote public safety, and create productive members of society. The court will conduct process and outcome evaluations, which will evaluate the court's operations and impact on the surrounding community. The court will utilize the NYS Universal Treatment Application, which allows the court to maintain a uniform database throughout the state, while allowing flexibility to suit the needs of the local court.
