FY 2002 DRUG COURT GRANT PROGRAM

Adult Implementation Grant Award

Kentucky

AWARD RECIPIENT:

Administrative Office of the Courts - Bourbon, Woodford, and
Scott Counties
Frankfort, KY

AWARD AMOUNT:

$500,000*

PURPOSE: The Fourteenth Judicial Drug Court will use grant funds to implement an adult drug court in a rural jurisdiction. The court will serve 100 to 200 misdemeanor and felony nonviolent, substance-abusing adult offenders annually. The program will last approximately 12 to 24 months, and it will operate based on a post-adjudication model. The program will provide intensive judicial supervision, sanctions and incentives, mandatory drug testing, and aftercare services through the use of a 3-phase structure. The goals of the program are to reduce substance abuse and related criminal activity. The court has established relationships with local law enforcement agencies, local substance abuse treatment providers, Strengthening Families Education Group, local health departments, and the Scott County Bar Association. The court will conduct process and outcome evaluations, which will evaluate the court's operations and impact on the surrounding community. The court will use the Kentucky Drug Court Management Information System, which will allow the court to maintain a uniform database throughout the drug court.
